Just last week, we were excited to have Ms Liu Shi Qi and Mr Liang Chong Hao visit MOE Heritage Centre with their camera crew and family for a very special and important event in their lives – their wedding photo shoot!
Shi Qi and Chong Hao are both alumnus of New Town Primary School (now the site of MOE Heritage Centre).
Shi Qi said “NTPS is the place where we first met. It is also a special place that is close to our hearts, as it provided a solid ground for the then young and impressionable children in us to develop and mature into budding teenagers. As such, we would really love to capture snippets of the school to mark the progression to the next stage of our lives.”
Schools are indeed places that nurtured us, places that bring back memories.
NTPS holds many fond memories for Shi Qi and Chong Hao. They loved playing hopscotch with their classmates at the area beside the canteen and remembered the fun the classmates had in class and outdoors. The not-so-fond memory was the dental room (where the current HC Information Counter's location). They recalled how terrified they were whenever the nurse came around with the class dental cards and what was worse was the sight of their classmates who came back to class with bloody gauze in the mouth after seeing the dentist.
They had shared with us that when they were desk mates in Primary 5, they marked out boundaries between their desks and Shi Qi would ‘attack’ Chong Hao with her pencil when he crossed over into her 'territory'. Who would have thought that today, some years down the road, and two warring primary school students would become partners for life!
Congratulations Shi Qi and Chong Hao! Thank you for sharing your happy event with us!
Did you used to study in a H-shaped school building like this one too? We invite you to come to the MOE Heritage Centre to relive your very own school day memories as well!
